April 18, 2025
Leinster LGFA are all set for another whirlwind TG4 Leinster Championship which commences this Saturday (19th April) with a SFC Round One battle between Meath and Dublin.
The Championship was launched last Saturday (12th April) in Parnell Park, Dublin, by Leinster LGFA President Arthur Corrigan. In attendance at the photoshoot and launch were all twelve Leinster counties, all vying for titles at their respective Senior, Intermediate and Junior grades.
Reigning champions Dublin will once again battle with Meath and Kildare for the Mary Ramsbottom Cup in the Senior Championship. In the opening round, Meath welcome Dublin to Páirc Tailteann (Sat 19th at 2pm) while Kildare will host Dublin on 27th April and Meath on 4th May. The top two teams will meet once again in Croke Park on 11th May on Leinster Final day in conjunction with Leinster GAA. Each of the senior games will be live streamed (€) with the final available on TG4.
In the Intermediate Championship, five teams will compete for the title. The preliminary round sees Wicklow host Offaly on 27th April with the winners meeting Laois in the semi-final on 4th May. Last year’s champions, Wexford will travel to Westmeath on 4th May in a final four tie and a repeat of last year’s Leinster IFC Final. The final is set for 18th May.
The Junior Championship takes a round robin format this year with last year’s champions, Louth facing Longford, Kilkenny and Carlow on subsequent weekends before the top two meet in the final on 18th May.
Speaking at the TG4 Leinster Championship launch, Leinster LGFA President Arthur Corrigan said; “We’re delighted to launch the 2025 TG4 Leinster LGFA Championships. These are the highlight of our calendar and after such entertaining games across the four divisions of the National Football League, the TG4 Championships will undoubtedly make for excellent viewing. We are encouraging as many people as possible to get out and support these players who are representing their counties, clubs and local communities.”
“A special thanks to TG4 for once again sponsoring our Championships. They have helped bring ladies football into homes across the country in a way we could never have imagined in years gone by. Once again, a huge thanks to Leinster GAA for working with us to once again co-host our Leinster Finals in Croke Park on 11th May. We are also very grateful to Dublin GAA for allowing us use of Parnell Park this morning.”
“On behalf of Leinster Council, I wish all competing teams in this year’s Championships the very best of luck. They are incredible athletes and role models for our future players, and we hope they enjoy the competition.”
