Dunboyne Declared Intermediate Champions!   30/10/2017

Leinster Intermediate Club Championship Final

Dunboyne (Meath) v St. Maurs (Dublin)

Saturday 28th October at 3pm

Coralstown – Kinnegad

Half Time: Dunboyne 2-05, St. Maurs 0-07

Full Time: Dunboyne 3-12, St. Maurs 1-11

The Intermediate Final was a unique pairing of Dunboyne and St. Maurs, 2015 and 2016 All Ireland Junior Club Champions respectively. Two early goals from Fiona O’Neill and Player of the Match Emma Duggan put the Meath Champions into a lead they never relinquished. Olivia Leonard was tireless in her running for St. Maurs and contributed two points to the scoreboard herself, but it was Dunboyne who took a four point lead into half time; 2-05 to 0-07.

St. Maurs threw everything at the Dunboyne rearguard, closing the gap at one stage to just two points but Dunboyne were steady and methodical and their third goal from O’Neill and several scores from the reliable boot of corner forward Aoife Thompson ensured the spoils would go to the Meath Champions. Full Time in Coralstown Kinnegad was Dunboyne 3-12, St. Maurs 1-11.

It has been an incredible journey for both squads, a fact highlighted by Leinster President, Finbarr O’Driscoll in his presentation speech before wishing Dunboyne the very best in their All Ireland semi-final. They have been drawn against the winners of Ulster v Britain in the All Ireland semi-final which is set for the weekend 18th/19th November.

Congratulations to Emma Duggan who was named Player of the Match, an incredible achievement for the 15 year old, before the Leinster Intermediate Cup was presented to Dunboyne Captain, Annie Moffatt.
