Saturday 28th October at 1pm

Coralstown – Kinnegad

Half Time: Cuala 1-02 v Clann na nGael 1-04

Full Time: Cuala 4-08 v Clann na nGael 1-07

The 2017 Leinster Club Finals got underway on Saturday as Cuala clinched the Junior crown in front of a large crowd at Coralstown Kinnegad. It was the start of a wonderful day for the Dalkey club as their Senior Hurlers later sealed the Dublin Championship in Parnell Park.

The Junior Final took some time to get started and with 22 mins gone, Meath Champions, Clann na nGael led by two points to one. However, it ignited into action with two goals in a minute, Vivienne McCormack netting for the Royals while Sinead Wylde raised a green flag for Cuala, the first of her hat trick. At half time, it was Clann na nGael that led by two, 1-04 to 1-02.

After the break though, it was the Dublin Champions that commanded the driving seat as goals from Dublin U16 Gráinne O’Driscoll and two from Wylde (including a penalty) pushed them into the lead. Four second half points from Dublin Minor Jennifer Dunne were critical as Cuala were crowned Junior Champions for the first time.

Although it was heartbreak for Clann na nGael, they never threw in the proverbial towel and excellent performances from full forward and Captain Louise O’Connor, Vivienne McCormack and Orlagh Lally ensured Cuala had to fight for each and every ball.

Full Time in the Junior Final saw Cuala win on a 4-08 to 1-07 scoreline. Sinead Wylde was deservedly awarded Player of the Match before Leinster President, Finbarr O’Driscoll presented the David McCabe Cup to Cuala’s Ruth Moran. Leinster Ladies send their best get well wishes to Cuala Captain, Siobhán Ní Ceallaigh.

Cuala are now through to the All Ireland semi-finals where they await the winners of Britain/Europe/Ulster. Their semi-final is set for the weekend 18th/19th November.
